In our class, Mr. Salsich has been having poetry rounds. That is when Mr. Salsich finds some poems, and we read them out to the class and find the poem that we like the best. I liked most of the poems that my class read, especially Jabberwocky read by Sam L. It won the tournament, and I was very happy. It was in one of the poem books that I own. I have many books at home about poems that I like. Most of the books that I read that had poems in them were by Shel Silverstein, who wrote Smart one of the poems in our Poetry Madness project. I also wrote a couple of my own poems, and some of them are haikus and cinquains. But, all the poems in this post are by Shel Silverstein!

I have decided to  put up a post about Skipper, who is my Grandparents’ dog. One of my little sidebar pets is actually named after him! He is a very small puppy, only about 8 or 9 months old. He is a mutt. The type of mutt he is is a mix between a cocker spaniel and a poodle. He was originally black but now he looks a little silvery, kind of like permanent dust in his fur. He is super fast and lots of fun to play with.

I also learned some facts about mixed breeds and cocker spaniels and poodles: 1. Poodles do not shed often. They only shed a little fur every small time. 2. Mixed breeds are very useful because they are often cute and a little faster than ordinary dogs. 3. Dogs are very obedient and very popular pets. 4. Dogs are one of the most popular pets in North America! 5. Data shows that people who have dogs are often fitter, happier and healthier than people without dogs. Some people now can even concentrate better! 6. Dogs are very smart and obedient. They can easily understand orders that are easy to follow and are very reliable.

Sadly, I do not own a dog at my house. But, I love Skipper and I love all dogs.

A few weeks ago I went to Captiva Island. Captiva is in Florida and it is right next to a bigger island called Sanibel. The shelling at Sanibel is one of the best places to go shelling in the world. Captiva is very good too, and while we were in Captiva we passed a place that was selling all different kinds of shells that locals had donated. One of the prettiest shells we found at Captiva beach was there, and it was so big my sisters and I decided to get it.  When I looked up the shell in a book I realized some amazing facts about the shell. I learned that the name of the shell was a Lightning Whelk.  A Lightning Whelk is a very interesting shell because it is the only shell in Florida that spirals regularly to the left. You may not notice it, but if you look at conch shells they will open most likely to the right. It can be possible for a Lightning Whelk to spiral to the right and a conch can spiral to the left but that is super rare.

I have been working on a optical illusions science project for our science fair. I have done a poster with a bunch of optical illusions, and I even got a certificate for participating in the science fair!

I will tell you the 3 main types of optical illusions with examples:  The first type of optical illusion is called a reverse illusion. The first two optical illusions below are this type of illusion. You can see them as one thing, or something else.

Another type of illusion is called a moving illusion. They will seem like the picture is moving, but it isn’t. This is the three optical illusions below.

Another type of optical illusion is a mind illusion and you will think that something that is there is not there, or something is not there but you think it is there. This last picture is this type of illusion.

I like taking piano lessons on Tusdays with my teacher Mr.  Hardy. I am pretty good at piano and I can play about 50 songs but some of them are very easy. I have been taking lessons for about three or four years. I need to work on a song for at least a week for it to be perfect but I never need to practice a song more than 6 or 7 weeks and I almost never need to practice a song that long. I am working on four songs right now which are called Waltz Pantomine, Festive March, Good-Bye Old Paint, and another which is called Alpine Melody. I never practice more than 4 songs at once and I only do that if there is 1 or more songs that I only need to practice a little so then I can start another song.

Every Monday I do dance lessons with my teacher Ms. Kathy. I do hip- hop, ballet, tap and jazz. I like tap and ballet the best but hip-hop and jazz are really fun too.  I like taking lessons because at the end of taking our lessons for the year we get to do a recital with other girls in different lessons. The girls might be older or younger and we can see inexperienced dancers and experienced dancers. I also like the recital because we get pretty costumes that we get to dance in. The recital is a little scary but also kind of fun even though there are about 150 people out in the audience watching you.

I like reading a lot so I have decided to put up a post about my favorite series of books. I like the Harry Potter books by J. K. Rowling the best but I also like books by Rick Riordan and books by Liz Kessler. My favorite series of books by Rick Riordan are the Percy Jackson series and my favorite books by Liz Kessler are the Emily Windsnap series. I have all the books in those series at home and I have read all the books at least two times.

We have had lots of snow so I have decided to put a post about winter activities. One of my favorite winter activities is going ice skating at an indoor ice rink with my sister Zoe. When I am ice skating I feel like I am riding in a plane that is about to take off. You also feel like a swan gliding across a lake only causing small little ripples that spread for a few yards. If I am going to fast, I feel like a speeding motorboat about to capsize at the smallest turn. If I fall, I stand up a soon as possible because I am worried that someone might fall on top of me!

Welcome to my blog! My name is Margot. I am 8 years old. I have two sisters named Zoe and Rory. Rory is 5 years old. Zoe is 11 years old.

I like all the colors of the rainbow but my favorite colors right now are orange and butter yellow. I like art but I am especially good at drawing and coloring. My favorite painting right now is called the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci.  My favorite movie is The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. My favorite series of books are the Harry Potter series. I have never had a pet, but both my grandparents have dogs. Please leave a comment!
